Top 10 Video Games Released for The Nintendo NES

Almost 20 years ago, my family brought home the Nintendo NES system.  As we set it up for our first taste of this new entertainment device, I had no idea how much this unit would shape and change my life.  The following is a top 10 list of games I played back then and still play to this day.

POW Prisoner of War Nintendo NES Game#10
P.O.W.: Prisoners of War 1989 By: SNK

After losing countless amounts of my parents quarters at the arcade, SNK finally brought this war game classic to the NES system.  Playing Bart whom escapes from an enemy POW camp and you must guide him through the jungle and infiltrate the enemy camp.  An instant side scrolling beat em up classic.

Operation Wolf Nintendo NES Video Game#9
Operation Wolf 1989 By: Taito

Also another arcade classic that I spent too many quarters on before it came to NES.  The player must save hostages from a concentration camp by shooting as many bad guys as possible before they kill you.  Although this game was amazing in the arcade, using the Duck Hunt gun instead of the arcade Uzi made it harder and not as intense to play on the NES system.  Still a great classic game.

Blades of Steel Nintendo NES Video Game#8
Blades of Steel 1988 By: Konami

Not the best hockey game released for NES, but the most fun.  The best part about this game was the fighting.  Especially since whoever lost the fight went to the penalty box, while the winner went free.  Now if only the NHL could bring in those rules.

Bubble Bobble Nintendo NES Video Game
#7
Bubble Bobble 1988 By: Taito

Warning: Once you play this game, the theme song will be stuck in your head for years to come.  Especially since there is only one song and it repeats level after level in this ridiculously catchy game.  Controlling anime style dragons, players must capture enemies in their bubbles.

Pro Wrestling Game Nintendo NES#6
Pro Wrestling 1987  By: Nintendo

Better then any game that WWE has ever brought out.  This is the only game we could convince our father to play with us as kids.  Play 1 on 1 or against the computer to make your way through the ranks of the VWA.  For anyone who remembers this game, Starman was by far the best character.

Retro Duo Twin Video Game System - Play NES / SNES games again

Classic Nintendo console games are making a comback thanks to the Retro Duo from Innex Inc.  For those of you who regrettably sold, lost or broke your original Nintendo NES or SNES system,  you can now play your favorite games of the past with this relativly new console.  While the reviews on the system are pretty mixed, most people see the Retro Duo as a godsend due to their pricetag of under $50.  One downside is that the games are not being remade.  This means you will have to use your old Nintendo cartridges or track some down on ebay. A lot of people also mention sound problems and a Black and White screen when playing Nintendo NES games using the S-video instead of RCA connectors. If you want to relive your youth through NES and SNES video games, this is definitly the product for you.
